CCS in New Zealand - Case Studies for Commercial Scale Plant: final Report (PDF 6.7MB)
02 November 2011

CCS entails the capture, transport, injection, and long-term storage in appropriate geological reservoirs of carbon dioxide gas emitted from large point sources. A coal or gas-fired electricity generation plant would be an example, as would plants manufacturing synfuels, cement or steel, oil refineries, and lignite conversion to briquettes, urea, and diesel.
While the component technologies exist, bringing them together at scale presents many challenges.
